Wichita Anime Fest '05 -- Turnout

Wow, I'm so behind on LJ.. two whole friends pages behind! Gomen, gomen -_- So here's blog about last weekend, because if I don't make it now, I never will.

So yes, Friday (which started off horribly), Stephie and I went to spend the night with Amy and Leif so we'd be close to the Anime Fest in the morning. Saturday itself didn't go too much better than Friday.. I was so moodswingy >.o .. Literally, bouncing one minute and sobbing the next, it was crazy. But it was still nice though.

Let's see.. for starters, the Orphium is this old, rundown theater Wichita is trying to restore. The seating is large, but walkspace is cramped.. and with sellers tables and 1,200 people, there was barly room to breathe. There was only two tables actually selling anime stuff, but there wasn't enough room to stand around, so the semi-organized line reached.. I dunno.. a long ways away o.o; Probably 30 minutes to get through. Other rooms took exploring to find.
There was a gaming room, down in the dungeon (^_^;).. Stayed in there for half a moment.. it was filled with fat, sweaty middle aged gaming nerds and their Magic cards.. nothing of intrest to little Star ^^;
Then there was the DDR room.. which was in an open space, so it wasn't quite as hot and smelly as the gaming room.. not that 10 year olds playing on Light mode would generate much hot and smelly-ness, but you know.. The DDR wasn't much, anyway.. a couple of soft pads hooked up to a PS2.. I played a round, none the less.. somehow o.- .. Soft pads kill me x.x
And then the anime--random episodes of DBZ, Cowboy Beebop, Inu-yasha, and the like.. all dubbified to start off with.. then I think they caught on, because suddenly it was all subtitled ^_^! Ne, Cowboy Beebop is nice subbed ^^;

So Stephie and I watched some anime (dying all the while, on my part, because of the dubbyness) before heading into the Line of Buying~ where I picked up a bootlegged copy of Nadesico the Movie for $12 and Maria-sama ga Miteru ~Haru~ for $24. I hadn't heard of it before, but it looked cute and full of shoujo ai goodness, so I bought it. Review to come.

People we knew~.. uhm.. most of Newton scene was there (excluding Snowy-chan, of course ;-;).. there was Jesse who I ran away with for a while.. Alyson.. I dunno, other peole I forget o.o .. and there was Willy Wonka!! Someone doing a really good cosplay of the new character, and I spazzed when I saw him ^_^ I pounced on him a few times throughout the day.. and squeeled every time we passed each other.. but sadly, I'm a bad photographer and only got screwy pictures of him. Speaking of which, I also got screwy pictures of a Gunner Yuna (FFX-2).. a Wedding Garnet (FFIX), and a OP3 Sakura (CCS). The Sakura and I had got along well--she noticed my anime, and we discovered we both liked Shoujo ai ^_^ *squee*

Hmm.. Well, the second worst (yes, second worst) part of the day was getting kicked out for an hour. There was some time between the main part of the festival and the ending movie where 50(?) people had a traditional Japanese dinner for $25.. and that meant that the other 1,150 of us had to exit the building and stand around loitering in the 90 degree heat for 60 minutes in our hot costumes. Not fun. Unless you were smart enough to find another air conditioned building to wait in. Needless to say, that wasn't me. Oh well, we had fun conversing with the two 15 year old girls from KC in Dir en Grey outfits, the three crazy extrovert pervert (I have no other way to describe them, they were just crazy o.o) boys, and the scary guy hitting on me.. meh. Okay, maybe not so fun.

The final movie was Naruto.. and it was good.. put me to sleep for a little while.. but it was cool, though.. because it was snowing in the movie and the wind was blowing.. and in the theater, the a/c was turned up really high.. so it felt like we were there ^_^; .. and then the random outbursts from the audience.. things like calling a character a bitch.. and laughing at how off the timing of the video and audio was.. *shrug* it was a good time.

Alright, in other news.. uhm.. One week left of summer o.o; We need to have a party or something!! I'm going to die!! (not really.. I'm tired of summer..)

Uhm.. I dreamt in male the other night o.o Although it's normal for Stephanie, I've never had a dream where I was a guy character.. Ou, and Stephie says I had a precognitive dream.. because there was something in Kyuketsuki's eye for like a week.. I thought it was a hair or something at first, but mom said there was something wrong with his eye.. it was scary o.o; .. but I had a dream that it was gone, and when I woke up, it really was gone o.-; *shrug*
